November 7, 6 p.m. Appreciation Night featuring Bari Pearlman, director of the film Mah Jongg: The Tiles That Bind. Bari will discuss her award-winning documentary, which examines Asian and Jewish experiences in playing this game that transcends time and culture. After dinner we’ll watch her film (32 minutes in length) and have the opportunity to ask Bari questions about her movie-making experience. Tickets are $15 for Sisterhood members and $18 for non-members--or become a Sisterhood member for $50 and enjoy the evening on us. No Experience Necessary!Sisterhood is proud to present each Bar/Bat Mitzvah child with a lovely gift in honor of this special occasion in their lives. The gift has changed over the years and currently it is a beautiful Kiddush Cup. A sisterhood member presents the gift to each child at the Shabbat evening service of their B'nai Mitzvah weekend. It is even more special when a B'nai Mitzvah family member or friend is the Sisterhood presenter! Anyone who is a current Sisterhood member can be a presenter! We will provide several brief scripts to choose from or you may make up your own. If you would like to be the presenter to a friend or family member's child having a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, please leave a message on the Sisterhood Hotline 612-377-6700 ext. 501 or contact Arlene Leibovich.
